Summer Meadow - Kestrel
The original of this painting is 24" x 94". Most of the work of this painting was done while standing on a ladder or laying the work horizontal on table and painting upside down!
The Development of Summer Meadow...
Nestled along the edge of the woods in a lush grassy meadow stands a quaint little cabin built solely with our own hands. It's a refuge for me and my family. A place to regain a connection to the natural world. Inevitably blessed to receive an amazing dose of energy to fuel an imaginative spirit and fully recharge a creative battery.
For me, a sunny summer day generates an irresistible invitation to a mid-day walk-about on the trails that meander throughout the grassy meadow. It is the time of season when Queen Anne’s lace, Prairie Ironweed, and Bird’s-foot trefoil are all in full bloom, scattered about through the various stages of brome grass. As I stroll along now and then I glimpse several monarch butterflies floating by.
On many occasions, I will come upon our neighborhood kestrel hovering in search of a meal. He is a strikingly beautiful colored male and I have enjoyed the privilege of observing him on many occasions. Read the rest of the story behind this work...I think you'll enjoy it!
